Here are a few of the things our middle schoolers have been doing this summer!!
This summer at Camp Tipton is jam packed!!! We are running about 60 children per week at our Summer Day Camp. We have mission teams serving at camp, on the “Dragon,” at the Baptist Center and at Second Harvest. We also have teams helping local churches in our association with VBS, Block Parties, and outreach. Our staff and volunteers are working hard everyday. They cook, clean, mow, share Christ, lead games, and all the little things it takes to make camp happen. I know what you’re thinking. “How can I get involved with that?!” Well, here are a few ways…
Lead Devotions- We are asking pastors, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, and all Christians who would like to, to come share and lead a devotion for Summer Day Camp. Starting on May 26th and ending on August 1st, our Summer Day Camp is looking for volunteers to come share devotions with our students. Devotion time is usually around 1:30pm each Monday through Thursday. The children range from K to 6th grade. Each week has a theme and memory verse that can be used to guide the devotion. If you would like to come share with our Summer Day Camp students, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 865-257-2288.
Adopt a Week- Many of the children who come to camp do not have a church home. If your church would like to send home flyers, meet parents at camp, or host an event to invite families to your church, please email me at larry.Overton@camptipton.com
Sponsor a Camper- Your donation can help send a child to camp that may not be able to afford it. Summer Day Camp costs $90 per child by making a donation of any amount you or your group could help easy this financial burden.
Utilize a Mission Team- If your church could use a hand this summer with an outreach project then maybe one of our visiting summer mission teams could help. We have several teams coming in this summer to serve Christ by serving our communities. Please contact me at email@example.com for more details.
You can also “friend” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, or email us so we can add you to our email newsletter. You may also want to come by just to see what’s going on. We have something going on every weekday this summer (field trips on Fridays). Feel free to stop by and join the fun!!
Camp Tipton 2nd Annual Banquet- Our annual Camp Tipton Banquet will be at 6pm on September 30th. The event will be held at East Maryville Baptist Church. This year’s theme is “Camp Dreams.” Every ministry has dreams, and Camp Tipton is no different. This will be a night to not only share dreams but also to make them happen. We are looking for dreamers to help host tables so that camp’s dreams can come true. Please contact us by email or phone if you would like to be a part of the dream.

Sometime we just like to have a little fun at camp. My family consider it a blessing to live, work, and play at Camp Tipton. I often quote my oldest daughter who said "we have a really awesome yard now!" We thank God for his blessings on our family and this camp. I have always felt that recreation activities, like a camp has to offer, provide and attractive vehicle for outreach ministry. We are always told the we should use "relational ministry". Who is it that you build relationships with? It is with those we recreate and work with. We often spend too much time sitting and listening (or at least trying to listen) in church and not enough time doing something. When was the last time your built a lasting relationship with a person you just set in a room with? We must engage those around us.
We build relationships with people at church, school, or work by inviting them out to lunch or to a game. Imagine setting around the camp fire with Jesus and His disciples. Your having dinner, sharing a meal together. As you listen to the stories, jokes, and jabs they take at each other. We are talking about 13 men setting around a fire. Someone is going to crack a joke, an embarrassing story, or even some "tall tales" about each other. It's what friends do.
If Christ wants us to build lasting relationships that will grow others and us, then we need to "go have some fun together!!" If you need a place for some fun just let us know what camp can do to help.
