The River Scholarship was created in memory of River Scantland, the beloved son of Camp Tipton directors, Noah and Isabella Scantland. Though River’s time on earth was brief, his life serves as a powerful reminder of God’s love, faithfulness, and the lasting impact one life can have. Noah and Isabella’s deep love for camp comes from their belief that one week at camp can change a life forever—and they desire for every child to have that opportunity, regardless of the barriers they may face.

Funded by the River Ridge 5K, held each October in River’s honor, this scholarship helps families overcome obstacles—whether financial, personal, or circumstantial—by covering up to 50% of camp registration costs as funds allow. Just as a river carves out new paths and brings life wherever it flows, this scholarship exists to open doors for campers to experience adventure, community, and the transformative power of Christ’s love.

Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritizing families with financial need or other challenges. Through the River Scholarship, we pray that every child who steps into Camp Tipton will leave knowing they are deeply loved, purposefully created, and forever changed by the love of Jesus.
